![]() ![]() On the micro spawning issue, just don't micro. Man-eating giants, giant-eating mans, man-eating mans? Bats, frogs, bat-frogs, dogpeople, doggirls? C'thulu, guy who beat C'thulu? Japanese, Chinese, Arabs, Kelts, Britons, Spanish/Franks, Russian, 3 type of Vikings, Aztecs, Mayans and The Black People Nation? Rome, Dead Rome, Ghost Rome, New Rome, New Dead Rome? Dominions have everything. The mythology and cool effect will help you power through all the bad things in Dominion. The second school of thought is to pick whatever you (or your girlfriend) find cool and go for that. Again, all these nations will get complicated as you will be countered in one or another way or to bring a serious firepower out (such as when teleporting mages killing raiders with bunch of air elementals for Ur starts to be a way how Ur can suddenly handle bigger threaths, knowing exactly how many troops do you need to slow down your enemy in a foul vapors trap). Not to forget EA and MA C'tis, which is quite simple, yet strong, death nation. I would also add here Ma Mictlan, although it starts to rely on communion (turkey mages) as its troops (bar sacreds) starts to be lacking and its priest-mages have just single path, its also relatively "simple" nation. Ma Marignon is also heavily troop-oriented and its mages are quite clear-cut, they lack options so you end up casting a lot of F spells. Its mages are relatively easy to use, it has powerful E/N buffers and while Enkidus are mostly just piles of HP, they also take buffs very well (in fact, you need to do it in the first place). ![]() But if one gets used to it, you might find other nations lacking in this aspect. You have powerful troops and earth buffs to make them even more powerful and they do not have straight counters. Is she aggressive or defensive? Does she like walking forts, or rather sneaky attackers? Ma Ulm is relatively simple to play. ![]() An alternative preference might be according to the type of player your GF is. This should also include realtively mainstream nation, nation without any special attributes. No or limited blood and communions, because they often take time and skill to use properly. Magic is limited to a few powerful paths that have a clear cut spell preferences. That means troop nation where you can win wars by just buffing your troops. So there are two schools of thought regarding beginner nations:Īccording to the first school of thoughts, you should pick something without complicated mechanics. Several other suggestions stand out as well that I might try myself. So in your opinion what is a user friendly nation?Įdit: Wow, thanks to everyone who responded! It looks like I'll suggest MA Ulm. Since I'm no expert I can't exactly teach her some great meta strategy. Basic spells and blesses obv i will teach to the best of my ability. Probably heavier focus on buying troops than setting up spell chains. It will be a small map, probably us and 1 AI. We do enjoy Magic the Gathering and Catan though, so the idea of acquiring, gaining and spending specific type based resources for units or spells is not completely foreign, though i know the games are not really all that alike.īeing rather new myself, I thought I would ask you all what nation would be a good straight-forward nation that doesn't heavily rely on late game spells etc. She has never played anything remotely close to Dominions. My girlfriend however has expressed some interest in playing a MP game. I've been playing Dominions 5 for a few months now, only a couple games under my belt.
